Hypocrisy and doublespeak

Reblogged from Red Brick:

It doesn’t sound very exciting but the Homelessness (Suitability of Accommodation) (England) Order 2012 came into force yesterday.

Behind the apparently harmless jargon of this statutory instrument is a story of indifference to human need and hypocrisy of the highest order.

In short, the Order sets out the matters that a local authority should take into account when using their new power under the Localism Act to discharge their main homelessness duty by finding accommodation in the private rented sector for a priority homeless household.

I know of small families who have been "offered" what is seen by housing officials as "suitable accomodation" - This was 100's of miles away from their support network (family & friends) & wouldve left them isolated & stressed, struggling in need. So they turned down the accomodation & consequentially ended up making themselves "intentionally homeless" & therefore ineligable for housing.... This, along with other stealth law's are ploy's to make the low to middle income earners of society (working class) have their children (& by default, their childrens children) live with them in accomodations, in selected area's designated as suitable for this purpose.. its social cleansing in its baseist form & is disgusting that its being allowed to happen.. PS - The area's we will be moved to WONT be affluent area's in london & the south east - They will be the ones where the recession has hit hardest already... If you think this isnt happening - YOU are very blind... 3 Councils to move tenants out  HB claimants to be moved Welfare reform means Move HB claimants out of London Follow me on Twitter!  Socially_Housed
